Pictures of Castles

A guide in pictures to medieval castles in England, Wales, Ireland and Europe

Pictures of Castle Coch

The Welsh 'Castell Coch' means 'Red Castle' in English, you can see catch a glimps of the castle as you drive past on the M4 motorway, and from even far-far away-er; on a clear day you can see it all the way from Cardiff Castle.

Turrets and towers

The remains you see today are a 19th-century Gothic Revival castle built on the remains of a real 13th-century castle.

Castle walls

Castle Coch nestles half way up a steep hill. If you decide to walk or bike the last bit up to the castle is really-really steep!
